Mixed Media Card

This year I am introducing the card classes to a little bit of light mixed media. It's one of those things that we all see on Facebook, You Tube and in magazines but are sometimes afraid to start because "its too hard"

This was the third card
We used a stencil with Distress Ink and stamps without acrylic blocks and an embossed brick cardstock cut to fit the centre of the card.

Despite some trepidation everyone finished and enjoyed making it. Result xx

Valentines perhaps

Having taught for many years I know that some people do not do Valentines Day so this card was designed so that it could also be used for anniversary, wedding, etc
I started off trying to use just the plain creamy background and heart but the heart just didn't pop enough so "after I had stuck everything down" I slid the red edge to the heart around the cream heart. Nothing like making it hard for yourself. Needless to say when the card was made in class they cut out two separate hearts and joined them BEFORE sticking to the card lol.
Note to self. Put brain in gear before getting the glue out xx

Card Class Today

Moving the card class to Rainham Social Club has worked really well. The room is much smaller and therefore warmer and there are lots of windows so much more daylight which is always good for crafting.

I started off with some stamping using the free A4 sheet of stamps from this months Creative Stamping
There were so many choices to make like...do I colour in the background or keep it black and white, do I use jelly beans or cookies......well you get the picture.
I kept it plain and simple so that everyone could add their own ideas to the card.
Come back to see cards two and three. There was a reason this card was so simple lol. xx

Great Pals

This is the second of the two layouts for January's Scrapping Your Family class. This one was not so time consuming but also involved stencilling using Distress Inks.
The papers were positioned first but not stuck down. We made pencil marks where the papers were placed and then removed them and added the stencilling.
The flowers were made using a new die set and papers to match the background.
A black pearl in the centre finished them off.

Really enjoyed making these two. I have so missed crafting. xx

Start the New Year with Friends

First class of 2017 was really fun and it was great to see everyone again. The theme for this first class was FRIENDS and I made two layouts for inspiration.

This is the first one
Thanks to Marta for the beautiful free paper she shared in our group.
Here is some more detail from the layout.

If you want to see a quick video showing the process please pop across to my personal blog Julie Wilson Designs. Thank you for looking xx
